At the turn of the 20th century Le Faivre Art Studio was a leading photographic studio in Fiji. Based in Suva, the firm was founded by the Frenchman O.J. Le Faivre before being taken over by R.G. Donaldson and finally F.W. Caine between 1905 and 1914, who renamed the company Caine’s Studios.
Le Faivre Art Studio specialised in high-quality photographic portraits and scenes of everyday with many of these images. In terms of its composition and lighting, the present portrait is one of the finest taken by the studio.
